The key to developing a safe working environment is to regularly assess all machinery to make sure it meets or exceeds regulatory standards.

Vickers-Warnick performs machine safety assessments to determine if machinery is compliant with these standards. The assessment highlights weaknesses in the machine safety and guarding systems and provides detailed recommendations to correct these vulnerabilities. The process also recommends specific safety technologies that will make the environment safety compliant.

Vickers-Warnick has developed the Guarding and Assessment Process (G.A.A.P.) methodology to ensure for a comprehensive assessment and the development of appropriate recommendations.

G.A.A.P. entails seven steps designed to identify and resolve machine safety and guarding deficiencies and to make sure your workers are properly protected against accidents caused by unsafe working environments. G.A.A.P. also ensures you meet or exceed all regulatory safety standards.

1. Free Consultation
A Vickers-Warnick Machine Guarding and Safety Specialist will visit your site to determine the scope and the safety legislation and codes that apply to your application, and to determine the scope of your requirements.

2. Safety Assessment
Conducted by our Machine Guarding and Safety Specialist, a detailed assessment is completed evaluating any areas of the equipment that may not be compliant with current applicable standards and legislation.

3. Stop Time Measurement
When data is not already available, a stop time measurement is taken to help determine which solution best suits each application.

4. Presentation of Solutions
A comprehensive and easy to read document is presented that clearly identifies deficiencies based on the applicable legislation and standards with specific suggestions for upgrade of the equipment if necessary.

5. Installation
The installation crew will install electrical, pneumatic and physical guarding equipment as recommended in the solutions document.

6. Prestart Health and Safety Review (PSR)
Under certain conditions, legislation requires that a Prestart Health and Safety Review is completed by a professional engineer. We will help you determine when and if your application requires this formalized review, and if it does, we will arrange for an independent professional engineer to provide this service.

7. Maintenance Audits
At recommended intervals, a Machine Guarding and Safety Specialist will visit your facility to re-evaluate the safety of the equipment to ensure it continues to meet current applicable safety standards.
